Codesmyths: Learning Programming and Perspective –

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Codesmyths (pronounced “code-smiths”) is an enrichment opportunity for 4th-8th grade students that allow them to learn computer-programming skills using Stencyl, a cross-platform visual interface (similar to Scratch). The main focus of this course is teaching them how to learn and teach themselves. Eventually, the students will learn to program apps for iOS devices using Xcode (Apple’s preferred programming language). Throughout the course, they’ll develop design, engineering/problem solving, and critical thinking skills.

K-8 STEAM teacher, St. Albans City School
I am currently tasked with developing STEAM curriculum for K-2. I also teach most grades from K-8 so am interested in all project ideas that engage students in thinking critically, being creative and persevering through challenges. I also am always looking for ways to encourage Making in my school.
